January PR coverage highlights at R&Co Communications

F1 star-to-be Zak O'Sullivan benefited from plenty of positive PR coverage in January as he looks for sponsors for his maiden Formula 2 season.

We kicked off 2024 in style here at R&Co, with some spectacular PR coverage achieved across the globe for our clients. Read on to find out more.

National and international coverage for Southfields

Sypha the cat, treated by Southfields

Our story about poor Sypha the cat really caught the imagination. She had intricate surgery to remove an air rifle pellet which had been lodged in her head for a staggering two years.

Vets at Warren House Veterinary Group in Kent spotted the pellet on an X-ray, before referring Sypha to the team at Southfields Veterinary Specialists for surgery.

As well as regional coverage from Essex Live and national PR coverage from Yahoo! News and Talker, the story travelled across the pond to NBC and multiple other news sites in the USA. To complete the set, the story was also covered by the leading veterinary industry title Vet Times

Nearly 40 up for Pallet-Track

January can be a quiet month for news, but not in the logistics world – we landed a superb 38 pieces of PR coverage for Pallet-Track and its members in the run-up to the network’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

Logistics bible Motor Transport featured the incredible achievement of a 10th consecutive FORS Gold award for ELB Partners, while Transport Monthly featured new network member Express European Couriers, a Kent-based haulier with more than 20 years’ experience shipping across the UK and Europe.

Mopping up coverage in both the logistics and business press, we also landed several great hits for fast-growing Merseyside firm SSO Logistics, which has invested more than £500,000 in a new warehouse and six forklift trucks (FLTs) and created 20 jobs. This landed on Bdaily and nearly a dozen other news sites.

Generating sponsorship for Formula One star-in-waiting

Zak O'Sullivan

Formula One star-in-waiting Zak O’Sullivan, 18, is part of the Williams F1 team’s young driver programme. He was chosen by Williams to drive in practice at the season finale in Abu Dhabi last November after finishing second in Formula 3 in 2023.

He’s graduating to Formula 2 this year and will drive for ART Grand Prix – the junior team which took Lewis Hamilton to the GP2 title (F2’s forerunner) in 2006.

The catch is, he has to raise an eye-watering amount of money to pay for his seat in F2, so is appealing to Gloucestershire businesses to support him with sponsorship.

We landed coverage for Zak’s appeal with websites including SoGlos, Wilts and Glos Standard and Gloucester News Centre, plus broadcast with BBC Radio Gloucestershire – and it’s already led to eight direct enquiries and pledges of sponsorship. A fantastic result!
