Google - new crawler

Google has launched a new bot to its crawler documentation called Google-CloudVertexBot which crawls website content for Vertex AI clients.

Social Media

TikTok

AI voices

TikTok is now enabling users to create AI simulations of their own voice, in app, so you’re no longer tied to the generate template speakers.

While this is only available to select users now, if it proves successful, we have no doubt this will be released more widely to all users.

AI voice option

While this does seem perhaps, pointless, all social platforms seem insistent that AI features are something that users desperately want, and desperately want more of.

Meta

More information is being provided when you speak to a business on Messenger, including a business chat label, and privacy information, much like you may see when you fill in your email in a lead gen form.

Meta explained:

“We’re giving people more information about how their business messages may be used to improve their experience. Depending on where people live, this could include improved product experiences such as faster response, personalised ads, and improved AI quality.”

threads

Ad formats

Threads continues to see copious amounts of updates, with the next being the testing of different ad formats on the platform, despite Meta telling us it would hold off on ads until the app was on a clear path for one billion users…

Threads ad example

As you can see from the example above, app researcher, Alessandro Paluzzi, showed that when Threads ads are released, they’ll feature a “sponsored” tag next to the username.

These posts will be sent to relevant users in-stream, and Threads will be added as a placement option in Meta Ads manager, but this doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be releasing it anytime soon, it’s more testing for the back-end code at this point.

cross-posting between meta platforms

Meta has released the choice to allow cross-posting between Instagram, Threads and Facebook, as reported by TechCrunch. Obviously, there are a few caveats, such as not being able to crosspost Reels, auto sharing for Threads can’t be activated, you can’t crosspost Facebook videos, and when you crosspost from IG, the post caption becomes text for the Threads post and hashtags aren’t included.

While this will amplify your reach, as you’re posting on more platforms, that doesn’t mean you should. Ultimately, the posts aren’t optimised for each platform, which mostly likely means your engagement will be negatively affected.

New feed options and media tab

Threads has added its own version of X (Twitter) lists, along with a new “Media” tab on user’s profiles, which, much like its X counterpart, filters out the users posts without an image or video, and allows you to view those that only include a photo or video.

Threads version of X lists also perform in a similar way, creating your own unique feed, based on your interests, by using select hashtags, keywords and more.

Live test of disappearing posts

Although this has already been spotted by users in the past, Threads has now launched a live test of disappearing updates in the app, but only for a handful of users.

It could be an outlet for celebs or users to post their thoughts without the worry of their updates being permanently tied to them in the app.

It may encourage users to log into the app more regularly too, thanks to FOMO.

As always, should you need any social support, please get in touch.
