Raising awareness for Miller Homes’ Community Fund
Raising awareness for Miller Homes’ Community Fund
131 charities/groups supported
Huge regional media coverage
£120,000 pledged to communities
THE CLIENT
Miller Homes is a national housebuilder who is supported by R&Co Communications’ property PR team across four of its 10 trading regions throughout the UK, including in the Midlands and the south of England.
THE CHALLENGE
To support a dedicated media relations campaign to alert community groups including charities, schools, sports clubs and environmental groups among others to apply to the Miller Homes Community Fund in 2024.
The housebuilder aimed to support more communities than ever before, following a successful 2023 project which was also supported by R&Co.
OUR APPROACH
Through a targeted media relations campaign, a schedule of activity was proposed and ultimately delivered to focus on three key areas of the Community Fund:
Raising awareness of the project’s launch
Announcing the record numbers of communities applying for funding
Our campaign aim was to drive people through targeted regional media titles to visit the corporate pages of the Miller Homes website to find the Community Fund application button.
Once applicants had been successful, we were then able to announce this, and focus in on specific projects and initiatives being backed by the housebuilder – including sponsorships for new football kits, book donations to school libraries, building/supplying equipment for construction projects and planting trees in nature trails.
THE RESULTS
PR coverage for the Community Fund topped the figure for 2023, with 96 individual media hits being accounted for, and more than 30 UK regions and many more communities made aware of the initiative by Miller Homes.
The housebuilder was able to support a record-breaking 131 community groups across the two periods of the Community Fund in 2024, before re-opening the application process for the project in Spring 2025.
Miller Homes has now supported 369 groups since launching the Community Fund in 2022, awarding more than £280,000 to local communities and charities.
