February PR coverage highlights at R&Co Communications

By Sarah RossIn PR and CommunicationsPosted February 29, 2024
BBC Breakfast presenter interviews vet Josh Walker on Alabama Rot

February might be the shortest month of the year, but it’s been one of our biggest ever for media coverage.

Our PR specialists have been busy securing national TV and regional radio, plus national and local digital and print hits for our clients.

Did you spot any of our coverage this month?

Raising awareness of Alabama Rot

We’ve been raising awareness of the deadly dog disease cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy (CRGV), more commonly known as Alabama Rot, on behalf of Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists (AMVS).

Following a recent spike in cases, AMVS tasked our veterinary PR specialist Tom Payne with highlighting the dangers and symptoms of the disease to dog owners.

We achieved this with a targeted media campaign, drawing on real life case studies of pets affected by the disease, while driving audiences to AMVS’ dedicated Alabama Rot website, which features a symptoms checklist and a live map of all UK cases.

BBC coverage

By securing coverage on BBC Breakfast, including a pre-recorded interview with a pet owner whose dog died from the disease and a live interview with Alabama Rot specialist Josh Walker, of AMVS, and online BBC coverage, we were able to reach a national audience, increase search behaviour around the topic and drive traffic to the website.

This, along with additional pitching to national and regional titles, enabled us to secure 214 media hits for AMVS in February alone.

Miller Homes in the Metro

Speed is one of the specialist skills of our property PR pro Sam Smith. By responding quickly to a reactive PR opportunity, he was able to secure national print and online coverage in the Metro for our client Miller Homes.

The story, which shouted about the benefits of living in Basingstoke, featured Miller Homes Southern’s Oakley Grange development.

Blythe Liggins

This month, we also highlighted the amazing work of Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Coventry on behalf of Blythe Liggins, as solicitor Lois Harrison has become a Trustee at the charity.

We gained online and print coverage for the charity in a number of local titles, including Coventry Telegraph, Rugby Observer and Leamington Observer.

Pallet-Track celebrates its 20th anniversary

While Pallet-Track celebrated 20 years in business this month, R&Co celebrated our best ever month of coverage for the pallet network.

In addition to securing coverage on its 20th anniversary awards event, including this piece in Express and Star, we gained regional and trade hits for its haulier members on a range of topics.

Our new member stories gained coverage in The Irish News and Bdaily News, while stories on electric trucks and major investments in warehousing and forklift trucks also gain hits in Motor Transport, Post and Parcel Technology International and many others.
