Internet Archive's Wayback Machine
Google has integrated Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine into search results which allows for easy access to older versions of webpages.
A Google spokesperson explained the reason behind the update:
“We know that many people, including those in the research community, value being able to see previous versions of webpages when available. That’s why we’ve added links to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine to our ‘About this page’ feature.”
Mark Graham, Director of the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive, commented on the significance of this integration:
“The web is ageing, and with it, countless URLs now lead to digital ghosts. Businesses fold, governments shift, disasters strike, and content management systems evolve—all erasing swaths of online history,” Graham said. “This digital time capsule transforms our ‘now-only’ browsing into a journey through internet history.”
While this feature isn’t available for all websites, it is available right now, and users worldwide should be able to find and access these archive links through a Google Search.
Social Media
Have you ever wondered what the most popular apps are in each country? Well wonder no-more!
The Team at Mailsuite have analysed Google Play Store ratings for social media apps in each nation, to come up with an overview of the most popular apps.
Meta
threads
As we’ve reported for the past few weeks now, thanks to Appfigures, we know that Threads is continuing to rise in the app download rankings, whilst X’s decline remains slow and steady. While X still has many more active and daily users than threads, if this trend continues, Threads may eventually overtake X.
A new report has also shown that you’re more likely to get higher reach when posting questions on Threads, which may show that the algorithm of the app incentivises discussion over everything else.
As always, should you need any social support, please get in touch.
