November PR coverage highlights at R&Co Communications

By Sam SmithIn Media Relations, PR and CommunicationsPosted December 6, 2024
Merlin the goldfish saved by MyVet specialists

Our team of experts in media relations provided all the pops, bangs and whizzes you’d expect in November for plenty of our clients, across UK and overseas media titles.

Let’s find out more about the print, online and broadcast coverage we secured last month.

Magical Merlin proves a global hit

The incredibly detailed, delicate work to remove a tumour from a beloved goldfish became an international phenomenon in November. Merlin, whose life was saved by the team at Linnaeus-owned MyVet, had intricate surgery to remove a growth under the goldfish’s eye which had sadly left him unable to eat.

Our quick-thinking team of experts pitched the story to targeted media outlets and secured more than 30 press hits sharing Merlin’s story with the world, including making a splash on US hit TV programme The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The heartwarming story was well delivered and demonstrated the value of sharing news coverage in the right way, to the right audience.

Records smashed in logistics media frenzy

Logistics trade media titles, and associated regional press, lapped up our stories last month. During a record month in which we secured more than 50 press hits, our clients Pallet-Track enjoyed seeing the fruitful results from two stories in particular, demonstrating the businesses growth and development.

The acquisition of Mars-Jones Ltd, formed in 1924, by Pallet-Track member P W Gates featured heavily across regional and trade media, to highlight the significant growth and efficiencies both companies can bring, moving forwards together.

Meanwhile, the announcement of Pallet-Track’s plans to become a carbon neutral business also landed well with the media in November. Its status as a Carbon Certified Business enables the company to accurately measure a large element of its carbon emissions, which is a huge step forward as it aims to become fully carbon neutral.

Miller Homes hit the Metro

Our property experts hit the heights again in November, achieving national media coverage for Miller Homes Southern as part of a dedicated feature on Didcot’s housing scene, where the developer had just opened the doors to a showhome at its development in the town.

The opportunity, driven by the team’s close network of contacts in the industry, provided space in one the UK’s most-read commuter press titles and ensured Miller Homes stood alongside its competitors in the marketplace.

Shania Twain-singing Jax impresses the media much

When the story of Jax, the five-year-old border collie who swallowed a 5cm grass seed which had become lodged in his lung, was conveyed to us by the team at Linnaeus-owned Northwest Veterinary Specialists (NWVS), little did we know how Jax’s owners first suspected their beloved pet was unwell.

Following the development of a cough caused by the stuck grass seed, poor Jax had stopped – and don’t just take our word for it! – singing along to his favourite music artist… Shania Twain.

Thankfully for Jax, and his owners, the surgery performed by the expert NWVS team helped him find his voice again, a story which made national and international news in November, including in the NY Post, bringing some winter joy to all our news feeds.
